Should I Remove or Correct My Eyebrow Tattoo?

Understanding When to Fade, Fix, or Fully Remove

Eyebrow tattoos can be a life-changing beauty investment—when done right. But when they go wrong, clients are often stuck wondering: Should I get them removed, or can they be corrected?

At Browserie, we get this question almost daily. So here’s a simple guide to help you understand the key differences between brow removal and brow correction, and how to decide what’s best for your case.

✅ When Brow Correction Is Possible (No Removal Needed)

Brow correction involves adjusting or layering pigment over an existing tattoo to improve its shape, symmetry, or colour. It’s often faster, less invasive, and more affordable than full removal.

You’re a candidate for correction if:

🔹 Shape is slightly off

You may have one tail higher than the other, or a minor asymmetry. This can often be corrected by mapping and reshaping during your new session.

🔹 Colour is faded or uneven

If the pigment has faded to a warm orange or cool grey, but still sits relatively light in the skin, we can colour correct using a warm or neutralising pigment.

🔹 You had a good base but poor fading over time

Sometimes brows heal well but change colour as the pigment breaks down. Correction can restore harmony without needing to erase everything.

🔹 Ink depth is not too saturated

If the pigment isn’t packed too deeply or darkly, it can usually be camouflaged or neutralised with strategic pigment layering.

Correction methods used:

  • Colour neutralisation

  • Reshaping & re-mapping

  • Brow redesign with layering pigments

  • Camouflage work (in some cases)

❌ When Brow Removal Is Necessary

Brow removal (laser, saline, or non-laser inkless methods) is best for brows that are too saturated, discoloured, or poorly placed.

You’ll likely need removal if:

⚠️ Pigment is very dark, dense, or black

Brows that look like sharpie strokes, or have been done with old carbon-based inks, won’t be able to absorb new pigment. Correction won’t work well unless some removal is done first.

⚠️ The shape is far outside your natural brow bone

If the previous artist placed brows too high, too thick, or mismatched, no correction can fix improper structure. Removal is the only way to start over cleanly.

⚠️ Brows turned blue/grey or red/orange and are still very strong

Over-saturated cool or warm tones that don’t fade can only be lifted before any new pigment is introduced.

⚠️ Multiple previous sessions done incorrectly

If your brows have layers of pigment from multiple artists, the skin may be too compromised for correction. A clean slate is safer.

Removal methods used:

  • Laser pigment removal

  • Liquid removal

  • Inkless serum-based removal (gentler option)

The Hybrid Approach: Lightening Before Correction

In many cases, we recommend partial removal or fading before correction. This gives us a better canvas and allows pigment to heal naturally and beautifully.

Final Thoughts from Andrea, Founder of Browserie 💬

“Your brows are the most important feature of your face. Correction is a beautiful solution when done with intention, but removal gives us the clean slate we need when past work no longer serves your current beauty goals. At Browserie, we assess each case individually to create the safest and most aesthetic path forward.”
